The renewable energy transition is transforming how we power our world — but it's creating a new challenge as we scale up use of this technology.
Solar panels, battery systems and wind turbines don't last forever. When they reach the end of their life, there are currently shortcomings in how we process these systems:
- Most solar panels end up in landfill, stockpiled or exported overseas.
- Solar panel, battery and wind turbine waste volumes are set to increase, but we don't have consistent regulation to manage this growing issue.
- Where assets are recycled and materials recovered, we export most of the scrap aluminium and copper because we don't have onshore processing at scale — then we import finished metal products from overseas.
We believe there is room for improvement.
A circular economy solution.
ASRX is expanding Australia's circular manufacturing capability so we can capture the value of post-consumer metals and fabricate our own premium, low carbon aluminium and copper materials.
We're working with asset owners, electrical installers and recycling partners to make the recovery process as efficient and cost-effective as possible. And we're collaborating with manufacturers and developers to create products that meet Australia's consumer and infrastructure needs. Together, we can close the loop on renewable energy technology.
Because this clean energy transition has so much more to give than just clean energy.
Who we are.
Leesa Blazley - Founder & Managing Director
Leesa Blazley is an energy industry leader with more than 20 years of experience delivering complex renewable energy, infrastructure and construction projects across Australia. She has led national operations, product development and procurement functions, with deep expertise spanning solar PV, battery storage, wind and hydro energy systems.
Leesa has delivered close to $500 million in renewable energy projects, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery experience to help accelerate Australia's energy transition. She also co-founded building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) start-up Solafast in collaboration with Australia's national science agency, CSIRO, focused on integrating renewable energy generation directly into the built environment.
With a background that bridges commercial delivery, innovation and sustainability, Leesa is passionate about creating practical pathways toward a circular, low-carbon economy.
